Porté en Belgique, le nom s'écrit aussi Wilock, Willock, Willocq, Wylocke. Certaines de ces formes sont présentes dans le département du Nord. Deux possibilités : soit un diminutif du néerlandais Wilhelm (= Guillaume), soit le surnom d'une personne lente ou d'un marchand d'escargots (moyen néerlandais "willok" = escargot, attesté dans le nord de la France en 1382 sous la forme "willox").
